
Agroforestry Apprenticeship
We are committed to training the next generation of BIPOC Agroforesters. Apprentices will assist in establishing and operating our 16-acre conservation farm in Northwest PA.
the core of the apprenticeship is 2,106 hours of on-farm employment and training at Woolbank with opportunities for advancement upon completion. This on-the-job training is complemented by 234 hours of related technical instruction, which takes place in the format of online classes, educational workshops and community events.
Apprentices are engaged in full-time, paid employment while they are comprehensively trained in all aspects of running a productive and profitable agroforestry operation.
Woolbank’s 18-month Agroforestry Apprenticeship program will provide technical, practical knowledge on establishing silvopasture, alley cropping, and forest farming systems. Sheep and poultry will be integrated in cropping systems to heighten sustainability.
Apprenticeship Qualifications
At least 18 years of age with minimum of high school diploma
Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
Reliable transportation to and from varied work sites
Interest and passion for natural resource conservation in agricultural systems

Paid, Full time employment at $20/hour for 18 months

Cherry Hill Eco Farm is a 30-acre pasture raised beef operation, highlighting the creation of biologically diverse and sustainable systems, incorporating animals, plants, micro-biota, minerals and more, They will lead a three month grazing intensive for apprentices in West Springfield, PA.
Erie Food Policy Advisory Council
Erie Food Policy Advisory Council (FPAC) brings together entrepreneurs, educators, local policy makers and many others to identify areas of growth in our local food system. The FPAC also helps build collective support around food initiatives. Apprentices will engage in monthly meetings, advocacy initiatives in regional food policy, and enhance community engagement efforts in Erie, PA.
